Here are some of the most asked questions we get as a group. If you have anything more specific, you can email melica@etown.edu or access our contact page.
When do we rehearse/how often do we rehearse?
When do we rehearse/how often do we rehearse?
We typically rehearse 3 days a week:
- Sundays starting @ 7:00pm
- Mondays starting @ 6:30pm
- Thursdays starting @ 8:00pm
These rehearsal dates are subject to change accordingly, but please note that we will also be performing on the weekends which we tell our members in advance so they have time to plan and tell people accordingly. If a member does not come to rehearsal, they need to tell us this a week in advance. If someone is sick or needs a mental health day, we are accomodating to that as well.
How Do I Audition?
How Do I Audition?
Auditions will typically be within the first 2 weeks of the school year, where you sing a verse and chorus of a song acapella in front of the group. We will then ask you to sing the verse and chorus of one of two songs we pick for you. Everyone will have 2 songs where we choose which one you'll sing and we notify people of these song choices around a week before the audition, but the songs are always popular and on the radio and not super hard. IF YOU ARE AUDITIONING TO BEATBOX, you need to complete the singing portion of the audition first, then familiarize yourself with the song "Wings" by Little Mix and beatbox the chorus with us singing for you. Callbacks are typically within 48 hours and then we'll have our group! We do our best to respect your time and not make you wait for results. We have YEARLY auditions, not by semester and you're eligible for Melica Acapella if you're a full-time student at Elizabethtown College and female-identifying.

Absolutely, we have bonding nights, galentines, and we hang out outside of the rehearsal room. While we make time to rehearse, we also make time to have fun as well!!
